Felon indicted for post office robbery

A federal grand jury indicted a convicted felon last Thursday for the alleged armed robbery of a post office in Castor Gardens in November.

The hold-up occurred on Nov. 19 at 6382 Castor Ave. Authorities claim that Antwoine Tomlin, 32, wore a mask when he entered the post office at about 11:30 a.m., pointed a black .45-caliber handgun at a clerk and took an undisclosed amount of cash and money orders from a register. He allegedly fled in a gold Buick sedan. Authorities did not disclose Tomlin’s home address, stating only that he lives in Philadelphia.

Tomlin was charged with robbery of a postal employee, being a felon in possession of a firearm and use of a firearm in a crime of violence. He has not been charged with an earlier armed robbery of the same post office on Aug. 20. That case officially remains unsolved.

If convicted, Tomlin faces a potential life prison sentence and a mandatory minimum prison term of 25 years. ••
